SMC’s 56th Commencement Graduates 317
Two women spoke on behalf of Southwestern Michigan College’s Class of 2023 April 29 at 56th Commencement ceremonies for 317 students in the theatre of the Dale A. Lyons Building on SMC’s Dowagiac campus. Kara Murphy of Niles addressed the School of Arts and Sciences Saturday morning, while Tatyanna Blaylock of Stevensville spoke to the Schools of Business, Advanced Technology and Nursing and Health Services Saturday afternoon.

Chicago Trip Memorable for SMC Psychology Students
Southwestern Michigan College psychology students attended the Midwestern Psychological Association’s (MPA) conference at Chicago’s Palmer House Hilton April 19-23.

SMC Day Growing Rapidly
Southwestern Michigan College’s second annual “SMC Day” April 18 reconnected with alumni who shared their green-and-gold memories and pride. Alumni Relations and Development Coordinator Emily Schrock said, “SMC Day is a time where our alumni, donors, community and friends of the college can celebrate SMC, including all the accomplishments throughout the academic year.”

SMC’s Roadrunner Ready Designed for College Success
This summer’s Roadrunner Ready program will help Southwestern Michigan College students hit the ground running. A free five-week program designed for college success, Roadrunner Ready takes place July 10-Aug. 10 on SMC’s Dowagiac campus from 8:15 a.m. until noon Monday through Thursday.

SMC Collage Concert Concludes 2022-23 Academic Year
Southwestern Michigan College Performing Arts presented its Spring Collage Concert April 20 in the theatre of the Dale A. Lyons Building on the Dowagiac campus. Musical selections unspooled seamlessly from selection to selection throughout the theatre with applause held until the end.

Locke Roschyk wins SMC Math/Science Award
Locke Roschyk, just 16, April 20 became the third person in his Granger family awarded Southwestern Michigan College Math/Science Department’s Appreciation Award. His brother, Creed, won in 2021, his sister, Anaya, in 2019.

Southwestern Michigan College’s annual student art exhibition returned for the first time since 2019 April 18 with an awards ceremony in the Art Gallery of the Dale A. Lyons Building on the Dowagiac campus.

SMC inducts 18 into Phi Theta Kappa
