Course Description

Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in SPEE 102. This course is an introduction to the types, purposes and stages of interviewing. Basic empathy skills will be covered. Skills in observation, listening, non-verbal communication, rapport-building, information giving and information gathering will be taught. Basic training in recording and documentation will be reviewed. There will be an emphasis on working with culturally diverse, oppressed or maladaptive clients. [Semesters Offered: Spring]
