Course Description

Prerequisite: None. An introduction to the field of Social Work with its diverse settings, client populations and activities as a career choice. This course provides a brief history of the Social Work profession, and then presents an overview of the settings, methods, values and characteristics of the Social Work profession. It includes social work knowledge, skills and value base. This course will contain a component of service learning to acquaint the student with field experience. Emphasis is placed on class discussion and current events. [Semesters Offered: Fall]
