Course Description

Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in CHEM 100, one year of high school chemistry with minimum grade of B taken within the last 5 years, or satisfactory test score; minimum grade of C in ENGL 115, ENGL 103W, ENGL 103, or ENGL 104 or satisfactory test scores placing into ENGL 103W or higher, concurrent enrollment in ENGL 115 allowed. Explores fundamentals of microbial structure, nutrition, metabolism, reproduction, and genetics. Considers the role of microbes in medicine and host defense mechanisms. Laboratory exercises develop skills in culture, identification, and control of microbes. [Semesters Offered: Fall]
